Lithuanian Film Day in Oslo 2013

Lithuanian cinema is coming back to Oslo! Although last September was the first time when Lithuanian film day hit the ground of Oslo, the event received a pleasant attention from the motley audience. Lithuanian Youth Association in Norway is inviting you again to gather for a good doze of Lithuanian films.

Saturday, 31st of August, we are introducing you five touching works of Lithuanian authors. The spectrum of films is really charming – from documentary to fantasy, from small daily routines to extraordinary unreal experiences, from child’s comprehension of the world to adult’s inside insanity. You will also have a chance to meet some of the directors and discuss about their work, inspiration, vision and relation with cinema itself.

16.30 – GOOD AFTERNOON! – the session of shorts:

* „Lisa, go home!“ – In this documentary director Oksana Buraja follows Lisa’s plight in beautifully stylised images that depict the contrast between a world of childhood innocence and the harsh environment in which Lisa is growing up.
The film was awarded in Kortfilmfestivalen 2013 (Honourable Mention) and recognised as the best of short documentary films at “Silver crane 2013” (Lithuania).

* „Aldona“– Director Emilija Škarnulytė puts her own grandmother’s story in documentary film . In the spring of 1986 her grandmother Aldona lost her vision and became permanently blind. The film was screened in international Edinburgh Film Festival.

* „The swimmer“– The short movie by director Gabrielė Urbonaitė is about our small and big fears, friendship and passion for swimming, stronger than anything.
Film was awarded as the best of short films at “Silver crane 2013” (Lithuania).

* „World without words“ – Short film by Kęstutis Šmigelskis opens door to the inside world of a broken soul – from the darkest to the brightest colours.

During the session of short movies – meeting and discussion with the directors: Oksana Buraja (Lisa, go home!), Kęstutis Šmigelskis (World without words) and Lina Galeckaitė (The Swimmer).

Ticket – 80 NOK. Tickets can be purchased via Cinemateket:

During the pause all are welcome to have coffee/tee at Ben’s cafe (18.30 – 19.30).

* “VANISHING WAVES” (+18) – Fantastic love drama by director Kristina Buožytė. Following solid scientific experiment, based on the neural transfer, a young inhibited man will live an astonishing journey in the comatose woman anonymous mind. The main characters experience the ideal relationship, where two minds come into total fusion.
The movie is widely recognised in Film festivals – both in Lithuania (“Sidabrinė gervė 2013, as The Best Film, The Best Director,The Best Screenplay,…) and abroad (FANTASTICFEST, JAV – The Best Director, The Best Screenplay, The Best Film, The Best Actress ; Karlovy vary international film festival, Czech Republic – “East of the west” special mention; Neutchatel film festival, Switzerland – Special mention;…).
